I have an akebia that I planted last spring (2007) just after flowering. It is next to a masonry wall and I am hoping to train it to the metal fence attached to the top of the wall. The plant had next to no new growth last season, and this season it has had a very modest amount of new growth. The new leaves that do form, soon develop a brown lace like discolouration on the top sides. The leaves are generally pale as well and there has been some leaf drop from the bottom half of the vine. I thought that the soil fertilitiy might be a problem so about a month ago, I dug about a 1/3 of a bag of sea soil into it. There has been no appreciable change since then.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Taitism

Surf "armillaria" on the internet and lots of information will appear.
