hello, i am new to this, i have an acer tree, i dont know its name ,but it is about five foot tall and has pinky peach coloured leaves, it is really beautiful in may but in june it starts to develope a funny lumpy texture on the new leaves ,red in colour, then the leaves start to shrivel .could it be that the tree is in the wrong place, and is getting windburn?or has it got a disease?.it happens every year.and i dont know what to do about it.i would love to hear from anyone who can help me please.
Hello- may be best to post a pic - funny lumpy after spring might be what that tree does, since maples do change a lot throughout the season - then someone might be able to help. All best.
It sounds like a Japanese maple and they need light shade at most, so you may have to find some way to partially shade it, or get it moved next March to a better location. The lumpiness may be its way of compensating, but I really don't know what it is for sure.
thanks to schuchs and rima for your replies ,i think my tree is probably in the wrong place it is in a sunny spot, and it gets quite windy as well .so i am going to move it in march and see what happens.are maples and acers from the same family?thanks, jangardener.
