Here is a desert willow in high desert in northern AZ, altitude about 4,700 ft. Irrigation was not right, tree is dead on top and has shoots. Should I yank it out or have a trimmed shrub? Anyone know if it would be a real tree again? Planted about 2 years ago. Thanks
Good morning, I've just seen this, cut out all the dead wood and water well. It is showing that there is not enough moisture at the roots to draw up.
Have you considered mulching as well? Your tree is competing for water at its base with the lawn around it. See: Backyard Gardener - What is the Best Mulch? - October 2, 2013 from Univ. Arizona Cooperative Extension
