Today is October, 19th and I have just bought a primrose form the garden center. I was used to the idea that primroses only bloom in Spring and then they stop. Are there more types of primroses ( bot."primula")?Spring primroses and Autumn Primroses maybe? Are they perennials? You have a nice day!
There are many types of primroses (Primula spp.); most bloom in spring or summer. They can be easily conditioned to bloom in the fall and through the winter in greenhouses. That is probably why your plants are blooming now. That said, I have very similar looking primroses in my back yard, planted a few years ago, that are in full bloom right now and had been putting up a few flowers most of the summer. They do bloom heaviest in late winter early spring though.
