I have a huge stand of Matilija poppies at my new home - do they need to be cut back this fall or do I leave them alone over the winter

Re: Matilija Poppies (aka fried egg poppy)

    Hi Jainswor,

I would prune out the old stocks once they have died back completely, just to tidy up the flower bed. It is not necessary and try not to walk over the bed too much as the roots are quite brittle. I am trying to start some from seed for my new bed. Left my first plant behind. They are beautiful.
    Enjoy
