A friend of mine asked me to identify a plant she has. I have no idea what this plant is, but I took some good pics of it.

Can someone tell me what this is?

Thank you so much, joclyn! My friend will be so pleased to know!

I'll look up some more information about it now that I know what it is. I'll print it all out and take it over to her.

    Thanks a million!

This forum is so cool! I've looked for one like this for some time. I am a Hydroponic Gardener by addiction, and always have questions! Most of mine are on specific nutrient requirements and tolerances.

Thanks again, and I sure look forward to reading the information on this wonderful site!

you're quite welcome - always glad to help another gardner out!!

i agree, this is a fabulous site!! great info here and absolutely wonderful & knowledgeable people!!

although the chinese lanterns can be invasive, many grow them because they like the unusual flower and the resulting berry - which i have to admit is a bit pretty. it showed up in my yard a few years ago (present from a bird, i think) and i, personally, don't like the thing - they throw seeds far/wide and i'm constantly pulling up new plants. been three years now of trying to get rid of it!
