potted palm trees in victoria bc

    where can I purchase a potted palm tree for my daughter-in-laws apartment deck and what kind do I buy. She lives in Victoria, BC. Any help would be appreciated.

    I think Trachycarpus fortunei (Windmill Palm) would be a good choice to grow in BC.

    The only long-proven commonly grown choice is the Trachycarpus. But even that one should not be left out in a pot on a balcony during Arctic weather. It should instead be moved into an intermediate area such as a garage or unheated porch. You do not want the soil inside the container to freeze up and remain so for days or weeks, while frigid winds blow through the leaves.
