Three weeks ago I bought a potted key lime tree from Home Depot, that seemed healthy. A week after I had it home the leaves started to go brown. They look "scorched" What can cause this? I have watered it some, the soil is damp but not wet, I have a mini greenhouse I put it in outside. We have hard water and its quite dry in the house. Would it be helpful to filter the water I put on it? Also to mist the leaves?

looks to me that you have over exposed your new tree to too much sunlight. often they are grown under lights in expensive well ventilated, co2 enriched areas, not direct sunlight.
the lemon trees i have recently purchased, are having similar issues. try exposing them to the growing area a couple hrs a day, building up to being there full time. keeping them out of direct sunlight will keep your leaves from turning brown and dying. all the new growth will be healthy and used to the new area.
peace. and happy gardening to all....
