I'm very new to this whole botanical world and would greatly appreciate any tips or advice any of you may be able to provide.

In honor of Earth Day, my company gave me a tiny little stick of an Eastern Redbud seedling. Since I rent and therefore do not want to plant the tree right now (I figure I have a couple years anyway since it's so small), I bought an 8" plastic planter and saucer, and used Scott's Premium Potting Soil with Fertilizer to plant my little seedling as a potted tree. I currently have the seedling in my kitchen next to a window.

    What now...?

    Thanks,

    Christiana

Wait, water, repeat and repot as necessary... ;-)

I have a Redbud in a pot as well, though mine's into a 10 gallon now. It's pretty boring stuff throughout most of the year, unless you enjoy watching them daily and smiling at any new little leaf or branch (which I do. ;-) Other than that, just make sure you get it plenty of sunlight, and it should be fine...

    DGuertin,

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I feel so, excuse the pun, "green" at this, and I just didn't want to mess anything up.

I can't wait to see new leaves and branches! I already find myself talking to my little tree (this may make me a crazy person, not sure), and am so excited to watch it grow.

    Thanks again.

    Christiana

If that makes you peculiar, we're all so. Just wait until you start going into work telling people excitedly about your 'babies' growing so well. ;-) Boy have I gotten looks on that one!
