In the process of planning to re-pot our indoor/outdoor fig tree, we have a dilemma; the tree, which we brought home with our daughter from the hospital when she was born 24 years ago,has not only become pot bound, but has grown a 1/2" thick mat of roots outside(underneath) the 16" pot, in the pot tray... We place it outside from end of May to end of August, where it flourishes, and bring it indoors to stand in the living room, at patio doors a few yards from where it lives in the summer.it stands 6ft tall, and has a trunk 2" to 2-1/2" ... we need to re-pot, but as the tree is now a member of our family, are concerned for its welfare when we re-pot, as we must root prune and remove the root mat underneath... any suggestions? email
