    Hi,
I bought bulbs of Double Tuberous Begonia. The hight of the plant suppose to be 30 cm(12"). What is the proper size of the pot? I know that too big pot will harm the plant. I have a pot in diameter 15 cm (almost 6"). Whould it be too small if I want my plant to develop a normal bulb this Fall before it goes dormant? Also, the size of the bulbs around 3" in the widest part.
    Thanks in advance.

I'll admit that I don't know anything about tuberous begonias, but if you plant to have it outside I suggest a much bigger pot. My issue here is more about the plants watering needs than tuber development. A 6" pot will dry out in a couple hours during the hight of summer.

I plan to keep it indoors, may be I will put it outside but not for the whole summer. Watering, as I have read information about them, should be moderate, not over watering, just enough to keep the soil moist. Some people suggest to water from the bottom of the pot, but I don't like it as it absorbs too much water and lead to root rot.

watering from the bottom is a great way to water, just be sure not the let the pot sit in water for more that 20 mins or so and then drain the water.

I tried it with my violets, bottom watered them for about 3 minutes until I felt the water came up to the surface, then I take violet out of the water and put it on the plate to drain the water. As a results, one of my faivorite violet almost died as the water got to the center. Since then, I stopped bottom watering. Although, I have to say it is an easiest way to water.
