I have started a garden in my yard trying my hand at a few vegetable plants. When I first transplanted the starter plants I found that the next day some birds were digging around and eating some of the young plants. This resulted in a unorganized mix of the plants from where I originally planted them. I managed to figure out where most of them went to except for the watermelon plants that I had planted. I am wondering if these two plants might be the watermelon plants but i'm not sure. Can anyone help me with my issue please?

    Thanks!

Poppy of some sort. Once it opens it will be easier to tell which, but I'd stake my bets on Papaver somniferum, based on the leaves.

I agree with Lorax. I'm in Anacortes and they grow wild all over this valley. Probably due to people happily spreading the seeds (of any and all poppies and sea peas and any thing else they can) along the roads. They tend to naturalize on roadsides very well. barb
