This plant grows in the Sonoran Desert near the sea of Cortez. The lush shot is a volunteer the other is of cuttings I am attempting to cultivate. Left to it's own growth pattern it spreads from a central stalk about 6 to 8 inches off the ground. The leaves and stems are covered with tiny goblets that probably store moisture. It grown in areas where there is very, very little rainfall.
Yes this would make sense. Apparently invasive in the region. http://www.cal-ipc.org/ip/management/ipcw/pages/detailreport.cfm@usernumber=13&surveynumber=182.php
