Hello, this is my first post. Great forum.

I know this is an Agave of some sort. Possibly a form of Yucca?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Looks like a viviparous Agave's bloom spike. No way to really ID without seeing the cut off
leaves. Though you might find another in the same yard that hasn't been butchered.

im not sure that its a bloom spike because it has been like this for the past 18monts. from what i know about agaves(and its not much), they bloom once a year. i live in the phoenix area, and i have yet to see any agave like this one.

do you know what the common name is for viviparous agave is?

    thanks.

Yucca blooms once a year. Agave blooms at the end of it's life span typically a decade or more.
Once the spike forms it's stay in place until seed is produced or the bulbils are shed. Many Agaves
can produce viviparous bulbils especially when injured.
