The plants are speading and will eventually cover the bed.

Awesome! I looked for seeds earlier this season and couldn't find any. I think they would have been a good companion planting in my catus garden. Nice work Durgan!

    Cheers, LPN.

The flowering plants were bought as seedlings, but the ones in the center area are from last years crop. They self-seed and survive the winter. We usually get the seedlings to have blooms earlier.

Four pictures of Portulaca Bed Update

27 June 2006 Portulaca Bed Update. The plants are spreading. The under-exposed picture sort of highlights the colours. It is always a pleasure to view the bed.

13 July 2006 Portulaca Bed is now filled in. We had about three inches of rain yesterday. Bright sun today, which portulaca like and they bloomed. This is probably as pretty as it gets. New blooms everyday as long ss the sun is bright. The center is a poker plant, perennial for contrast.

I'm going to have to try harder next year to find some seed!
    Cheers, LPN.

    Durgan,

I have used Portulacas in two garden beds and in deck pots for two years now. They certainly brighten up the yard and deck I have attached pictures of them.
