Am wondering about this moss.
It sure looks like Ceratodon.
I'm thinking more along the lines of Polytrichum, but I can check in April. I happen to remember where this particular patch of moss is located in the garden.

Unfortunately there are no real close-ups of the plants themselves just of the colony.
The easiest distinction that is observable by sight is the presence of a prolonged "awn" at the tip of each leaf.
Ceratodon does not have a prolonged leaf tip.
