Just wondering if anyone has a complete list of poisonous plants and flowers handy at their fingertips...

I have a huge (empty right now) garden in my back yard, but want to make sure I plant only non-poisonous plants because I run a daycare centre. Even though I don't encourage the children to wander through the garden for lunch, the gardens are checked by the licensing officers when they do their routine inspections... Also, I'm paranoid about the kiddies thinking a beautiful giant pink flower might look like ice cream or something tasty... ya never know with kids...

Eucalyptus and Black locust are not the same although there is a common name in Australia and New Zealand that refers locally to a species of Eucalypts.

in the northern hemisphere black locust tree is usually attributed to Robinia pseudoacacia a member of the Leguminosae (Fabaceae). it is really dangerous to use only common names.

Most Eucalypts are not known to be poisonous to kids or animals but there might always be that exception. usually eucalypts will give of the characteristic smell similar to vicks vapo rub.

If I had the choice I'd plant a native BC tree rather than an Australian any day!!!
