This vine is growing from the base and up through (what was) a large, old barberry shrub. We will be removing the entire shrub, but would like to get a positive ID on this climbing vine before we dig out the root. Is this poison ivy? It is growing in a garden in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Thanks for your help!
Could be some creeper, Parthenocissus sp. Its young shoots sometimes show triple leaves. To be sure, consider some other features that distinguish poison ivy from other three-leafers. http://www.ipm.msu.edu/CAT05_land/L06-17-05poisonivy.htm
does not look like poison ivy to me - had it often as a child.... I have been digging a bit to try to match the leaf tip detail (the tiny light brown trait), and the petiole detail (the groove in the petiole near the base of the leaf). No luck so far finding a match, however, I did not see this combination on a poison ivy leaf. the large file on this Vanderbilt site might be a place to start. http://www.cas.vanderbilt.edu/bioimages/biohires/t/htora2-lf20454.JPG
