This is a very noxious weed in Polynesia, and we call it the bashful plant or the plant that lies (untruth). If you touch a leaf the small leaves will fold up into the center and the leaf branch will fold and look like it is dead. This plant has small sharp thorns and is found almost everywhere in lawns, pastures, growing and climbing on rose bushes, hibiscus, and other plants. The flowers are quite small, about the size of the end ofcotton swab. I shot this photo as a macro as the flower is quite beautiful and very delicate. Perhaps one of you might know the common english name or botannical name of this. I have taken many photos of various flowers, both in Tahiti and here in Oregon. Feel free to visit my website and download any of those you might like, I only ask is if you use them, please credit me as the photographer.
