HELLO everyone, I would like to start a thread that marries all things gardening with original literary writing (be it prose/poetry/limericks/anecdotes). So feel free to express yourself!
Can you solve this riddle? What is good for eating , but yet can't be eaten; What is used for drinking, but yet can't be drunk out of? (hint: a common weed)
Re: Can you solve this riddle? oh, interesting. I'm not familiar with a Pitcher Plant. Unfortunately, it only fulfills the 2nd part of the statement. not the first. :) Check out togata57's answer!!
Ode to Buttercup O Deceitful one, crawling on your belly smothering all in your path. You fill your cups with Fool's Gold shimmering in the sunlight, promising abundance Dazzling us with your toxic beauty. O Ranunculus repens, O Creeping Death! Your crowfoot leaves stampede through my garden Leaving only a bitter taste of Love gone wrong.
Oooh, nice. What---no squirrels in Vancouver??? My tulips never get that far...the s. regard them as their personal salad bar! Nice photo. Sigh.Makes me long for springtime!
What are the blue and white flowers just visible in first photo and #2 of second group? I'm guessing some kind of hyacinth action. ???
Oh lovely! Emerson!! Thanks Hollyberry Lady for the cheery Spring photos to accompany your quotes!! :)
"One is nearer to God in a garden than anywhere else on Earth" You're welcome! Thank you, for starting this terrific thread. : )
Hello everyone, I'm glad for some active participation!! How about taking it a bit further: Let's create a collaborative poem! I'm gonna begin one line, and someone adds to it, and someone else, and so on and so forth. Let's see where this takes us!! It's for fun so no fixed style here. Just keep it garden/nature related. Okay, here it goes.....
Listen... With faint dry sound, Like steps of passing ghosts, The leaves, frost-crisp'd, break from the trees And fall. ---Adelaide Crapsey
That is lovely, Togata! Are we still doing the story/poem? "Happiness held is a seed. Happiness shared is the flower"
