I had a problem with about 30-40 large cotton like pods coming from what appeared to be a Shiny Willow tree. The pods also spread to nearby shrubs and trees and are killing them. I cleared all of the pods i could and am hoping that will stop it. Will the pods re-generate? They appeared to be coming from a dead tree.
Any ideas? Is this anything to be worried about?

That's just the willow seeds blowing around in their dispersal fluff. Completely harmless to other plants, it must be something else is damaging them.

Anthrancnose? Maybe they should be sprayed with a fungicide. If they survive, spray them again early next spring.
