In have just moved into a new home in Lower Austria. We have a tree in our yard that is of a plum type. We have been told that is a Greengage but when the fruits drop they turn a colour of purple, but a completely. This makes me think it could be a Damson because Damsons do change to the colour purple. Also can someone tell me when is the right time to harvestb the fruit. All help will be gladly recieved. Sim
If they're purple they're likely Damson or what we in Ecuador call Mirabel. I harvest them when they're about 90% purple. Greengages turn gold when fully ripe.
