We took a photo of this orchid during summer 2009 in Colorado. Have difficult time to identify it. Can you please help. Thank you.
A "Platanthera" of some sort, I think (quotes because I'm not certain of name changes). Colorado Orchids provides an image of all? species in Colorado, but because of the use of flash, it is difficult to find a really good match.
The dark centers are interesting, species I have seen out here are mostly more or less monochromatic.
There are some traces of color in these two shots: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Bzez_OhoAaJ4sjagGF3TeA http://picasaweb.google.com/melharte0/CBWildflowerFestivalAlbumHarte#5225957991316037106
We have both Platanthera aquilonis and Platanthera huronensis here in Manitoba, as well as in Colorado, and they are very hard to tell apart. It could be either.
