I acquired this plant a couple of years ago and would like to know what it is so I could learn how to take care of it. I have attached a pic of when it was small and a recent pic of its present size. I have transplanted it once and water it 1-2 times a week. It is kept indoors all the time.

    Thanks in advance.

Araucaria of some sort? My gut tells me it's a Norfolk Island Pine - Araucaria heterophylla.

Agree with Araucaria heterophylla, or A. columnaris, which is very similar (probably indistinguishable) at this age.

Those sold as house plants in North America are probably just about always labeled as A. heterophylla. In Hawaii the common one is actually A. columnaris but it is referred to as the other, again perhaps most of the time or nearly so. Outdoors the differences between the two become discernible as the trees develop.
