Please identify this plant

    Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea
    They are sold as happiness tree, or wealth bringing tree, or 'happy tree' in Korea. It seems they belongs to Araliaceae, but I am not sure.

    Searching happiness tree I got Garcinia and Albizia on the first page, as well as a bunch of hits that didn't relate at all. I agree yours looks like an araliad. Do you have an English version of the Korean common name that could be checked? You know, the Korean written with English characters instead of Korean, but not made into English words like happiness tree.

    You mean the romanization version of the korean names? Well, it is Haeng bok na mu and Bu gwi su. However, I don't believe those names would help identifing the plant, since korean nurserymens are infamous for making up new names for imported plants.

    Yes, those turn out to bring up even less apt hits.
