Please identify these tentacles

    I was intrigued by this plant on my 2006 visit to Vancouver. It is absolutely beautiful but I would love to know it's name and, in addition, perhaps it's formal latin name if possible.

    Hello it8kpiks

    could be some sort of amaranth. lots of this were planted in the beds at VanDusen Botanic Garden in Vancouver
