Please identify my plant

    Hello

    I have had this little darling for about a year, but I have not managed to identify it.

    I hope you can see from the attached images that the young leaves have tiny pale scales on the surface.

    I has grown from a seed which was in our garden compost.

    I'm not sure if it is hardy because I took it indoors over the winter to protect it.

    The leaves (including the very young) are tough in texture.

    I need to know what the best type of soil is to re-pot it.

    I live in London, England

    A species (or garden hybrid) of Elaeagnus. Those leaf scales are very characteristic!
