This vine I believe is a native to Alberta, I may be wrong about that but I do find it growing nearly everywhere in the country and city. I allow it to take space in the garden as it does have some very attractive features, at this time of year though it has all but choked out any other plants and must be pulled out or it will rob all attractiveness from garden. Having gone through this many times with acceptance in mind I need to know what this plant is. It is so common I nearly am too embarrassed to ask but here I go, what is it?

    Thanks,,

That's Vicia spp., Purple Vetch (a number of different species answer to this description, about 5 of which are found in Alberta). When I lived in Edmonton, we called the the Purple Curse.
