This plant can be found growing amongst Saskatoon and Ckoke Cherry bushes (Common Name) It seems to be quite productive and survives best in wetlands in Alberta along rivers and river banks. The berry is white and I want to know the name Latin and common. Is it eatable? Skip Crockett
You have yourself a 'Red Osier Dogwood', otherwise known as 'Cornus sericea'. I have also attached a photo that will give you something to compare your picture too.
I forgot to mention about the 'berries'... The white berry-like drupe is extremely bitter and inedible. Some animals will feed upon the new growth stems and leaves. Some will even feed on the fruit, but to humans the gain doesn't justify the cost!
