Hello everyone, Could U please tell me what type of tree this is ? It's smothered with white flowers in the spring. I thought it was a Serviceberry but the fruit is still red & I thought it turned purple so I'm not sure now. Thank you.
Rather difficult to tell without a closer shot but it could be Idesia polycarpa ( http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/cat1309.htm ), though the fruit doesn't seem to be quite bunched enough and I wouldn't have thought it would do that well in your area. The foliage looks wrong for a rowan (Sorbus). Of course, it could also be a type of Crataegus, such as http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/img20286.htm , some of which hold their fruit for a while after leaf fall.
