Identification: Please Help!!

    Hi I'm a newbie here & at plant keeping, recently I was given this but have no idea what it is...
    It has a purple stem & underside of leaf with lots of small hairs covering them.
    It's generally doing fine, I keep it damp, but I've noticed that some of the leaves are developing brown patches.

    >>brown patches<< could be two things dry atmosphere(so spray with atomizer daily) or sun scorch (too close the window)
