I bought this plant for $2.00 from our local thrift store. At the time it was not much to look at but for some reason it caught my eye. It was quite the surprise to see it sprouting beautiful orange trumpet like flowers after just a short wihile. Anyways I am hoping someone can help me identify this unique beauty.
No this is not a lipstick plant I have one of them in my house too. This plant has very hardy branches and the leaves curl on the ends. The pistils that protrude from the flowers are long and almost look like they are made of wax.
Could the two plants both be Aeschynanthus, but of differing species or varieties---e.g. A. radicans, pulcher, speciosus?
Yes, this is Aeschynanthus speciosus . It is sometimes called a lipstick plant, even though Aeschynanthus radicans (probably the other one you have) more commonly uses that name.
