    Hi,

I bought a plant a month ago but I don't know what it is. It's been shedding leaves and flowers for quite a while now and I'm afraid it might be dying. Can anyone help me identify this?

Additional info: I bought it sometime during middle-end of autumn and it's the beginning of winter where I'm at. Does this shedding have anything to do with the change of season?

    Welcome dragonist.
It looks like Erica sp. Common name Bell heather.
Possibly Erica cinerea, or Erica carnea.

In Britain this would normally be grown outside, and is evergreen. They come in many different named cultivars in shades of purple, red even white.

I suspect it is not happy inside in a warm house .I am also worried about the plastic that it appears to be sitting in. Has it maybe drowned by sitting in water.

Try planting it outside in an ericaceous compost and keep your fingers crossed that it will recover.

Thanks. I took it out and removed the plastic. Hopefully it'll get better

I would protect it from freezing for the first week or so, it needs to acclimate or adjust to the outdoor elements...
