    Some sort of Maple I believe.

    Would those be flowers on it or turning into leaves?

    Could be both. Hard to say at this stage of development.

    Maple; from the looks of the more developed terminal buds I'd say it's flowering at the tip and leafing below that - ie it's both flowers and leaves that we're looking at.

    Probably Norway Maple....it's fairly advanced relative to other trees in the city. You must be a fair distance from the lake?

    I know of only three A. psuedoplatanus in the city....and they look quite sickly due to the hot & humid summers with the tendancy to be 'droughty' as well. Not saying it isn't, but it's a rare maple here, not sold in most nurseries, not widely planted, and not particularly vigourous when it is planted.
