I've never been a fan of the common schefflera sold as houseplants but the tree in your photo has a really nice form!
Schefflera umbellifera AKA umbrella tree. A word of warning. Never plant them closer than 3 metres to a building and never ever within 10metres of sewer or stormwater. They have a very powerful root system
Thanks Puddleton. But the leaf looks likes little difference from Schefflera umbellifera n Schefflera actinophylla.
You have a point there Popo. Im of the opinion that the leaf difference you mentioned is due to the very unnatural growing conditions this plant has found itself in. Radiant heat from the road and building has toughened the leaves whilst the lack of competition and probable pruning has developed a compact habit. I also imagine a high quantity of cigarette butts would be present in the soil. Tobacco does strange things to plants. It would be prudent to warn the owner of the building that they should start looking for a remedial builder to fix the structural damage the tree will do in the next few years
Looks like this particular, rather spindly one has a long way to go before it starts cracking anything.
Hi Puddleton & Ron B, Many Thanks For Your Kindly Warning About The Damage Of The Tree Will Causing. Luckily This Is Not My House. I Like To Take The Picture Of Plant That I Dont' Know On The Street...so All The Pictures I Posted To The Web Was On The Street Or Someone's Back Yard. Now..i Learned About This Kind Of Tree..if I Have Chance To Plant It..will Pay Extra Attention!! Thank You!!
I don't believe it's Schefflera (Brassaia) actinophylla. It may be Schefflera pueckleri, formerly known as Tupidanthus calyptratus.
