Hi...my name is Jim and i have recently joined this website to obtain an answer to a question that quite frankly is really bugging me. I have discovered a plant in my garden whilst working on the edge of my lawn ( i hadn't done the garden in a while due to the weather and everything had gone rather wild). Anyway, a plant came to my attention through all of the other plants. Its leaves look extremely similar to a marijuana plant. The leaf is split in to 5 seperate leaves (sorry im not the best with the lingo, im not much of a gardner) and are serated (jagged like a marijuana leaf) but with rounder ends. These plants don't seem to be growing upright like marijuana does...although there are many many other weeds which could have stopped it from forming properly. I live in south wales U.K. and the weather here is atrocious, we have had some good days....but mostly very wet...this is why i am scepticial....can marijuana grow here? if it can its doing tremendously.....there is copious amounts of this plant....i mean LOADS...this is why i want to idenify it before i have drug squad knocking at my door. The previous house owners were very drug orientated so i have heared....and i'm thinking maybe that they left them behind... This is getting a bit long now...but the short and tall of it is... Can marijuana grow in south wales...or even the U.K.? Are there any other plants that look very similar that grow here in the U.K.? I can obtain pictures if anybody is bothered enough to help me out....it would be greatly appreciated. If so please email me at minnerman182@hotmail.com Many Thanks...Jim
Jim, If you could post a good photo, I'm sure someone here can come up with a possible ID. Directions for posting photos on the right margin. Off the top of my head, one plant that bears some similarity is castor bean (Ricinus communis). You could try a google image search for comparison.
Jim, I too would like to see pictures. I would also recommend you remove your e-mail addy from public view as that is how you get spam. You could also change it to all words such as - at hotmail dot com. Newt
Was thinking about this the other day when I saw some Cleome. http://www.robsplants.com/plants/CleomHassl.php
