My plant came with a tropical plant tag but no name. It is magenta in colour and grows like a weed! Very thirsty with thick stalks. The leaves are neither round, oval, nor heart-shaped but have distinct lines from the center of leaf to the outer edge. This plant also likes a lot of light. I've never seen this plant anywhere else.

A picture would be very helpful for identification.

Thanks but it is not an Iresine herbstii. I checked it out and close, but that's not it. The colour is right on but leaves are not the same.

Junglekeeper is right. Iresine herbstii cannot easily be mistaken for anything else. It has two commonly grown forms, the red and pink-veined one like yours and a green and yellow one with occasional red blotches.
