Please help me identify this pod

    Hello, newbie here. I would like help identifying this pod that I found out in front of our home. I live in Wilmington, NC. We were in the front yard and began hearing this loud "popping" noise, and saw pods falling to the ground. Upon further investigation the pods are thick and very hard. They have split evenly in half lengthwise. They have 3-4 indentation inside like a pea pod. The seeds are dark brown and about 1/2 the size of a penny. They are falling off of some type of vine plant.

    Possibly wisteria. See this thread for info.

    Thank you very much for the information. I too believe it must be wisteria, every spring the area is full of the beautiful flowering vine.
