Ive tried with no luck... I cant seem to figure out what it is. It consists of a thick single stalk which only has a couple smaller stalks branching off. The dark green leaves are sort of waxy feeling with a pinnate venation, and the venation pattern is highlighted by a silvery color. I think the leaves do an alternate and opposite pattern when coming off the main stalk. The stalk is a very dark almost brownish black color, not green. I got it from a friend who didnt know what it was either. It droops if it doesnt get enough water, however the leaves are browning to a copperish color and I wonder if Im watering too much or too less or if it needs fertilizer of something? please help!

Your zebra plant needs quite a bit of water, it like to be kept evenly moist at all times. They will also benefit from a bit of direct sun or very bright light. The leaves are browning due to lack of water.
