I have spent HOURS searching for the name of these plants and have come up with Nothing. I just found this forum and so just wanted to see if botanists out there can help me out. -Thank you
#1 maybe a pine (Pinus spp) #2 looks like a mango (Mangifera spp), but I've never seen one with serrate leaves so maybe not. Unless that's foliage from #1, at which point I'd say that I'm right out to lunch. #3 and #4 are the same tree? Crush the leaves and see what the smell is. #7 looks like Umbellularia californica, aka California Laurel. Especially if #8 is the a branch from it. #9-10 looks like holly, Ilex spp. #11-12 - what do the leaves smell like when you crush them? Hope this helps
#1-2 looks like a Fraxinus (ash) to me Could you give the location of the trees, please! That would help a lot.
Please can you post another photo for 3 and 4. A close up of the leaf and twig ,taken against a plain background. It reminds me of Euonymus lucidus.
3/4 looks like Photinia to me 5/6 might be Myrica Sp. 7/8 might be Prunus caroliniana 11/12 Rhododendron? HTH Chris
Without reading all the other posts (could be mostly repeating answers already given): Ash tree (Fraxinus) Fraser photinia Pacific wax myrtle Carolina laurel cherry Tall Oregon grape Hybrid rhododendron resembling 'Anna Rose Whitney'
11-12 Rhododendron 9-10 Mahonia or the cross mentioned earlier 1 - that's one odd looking structure for a pine, besides which it seems each close up does belong to the full length photo preceding it, and the foliage in #2 rules out pine rather conclusively... Location does matter - sounds like the trees are in San Jose?
