Can't figure out what these are. The one with orange flowers has some characteristics of a succulent and has been blooming all summer long. The flowers emerge from a conical tip on the stalks. The leaves look grass-like in the photo, but are actually thick like a succulent. Mealybugs love these flowering stalks, and snails love to hide among the long leaves. :( The one with purple flowers just started blooming in the center stalk, and is about to explode in flowers. It was nearly 6 feet tall at the tallest stalk before a freeze killed the tall stalks. Thanks!
I think the other is probably a Bulbinella. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=bulbinella&gbv=1
