5 appears to be an Amaryllis or relative thereof.
    2 might be Virginia creeper.
3---agree with Marpole that this bud looks like Hibiscus.

Greetings - thank you for showing these plants - good pictures!

Sorry as with the other posters I am not familiar with #1. I agree with all other suggests and can add a few details.

Agree number 3 is likely Hibiscus - coccineus, moscheutos, rosa-sinensis, syriacus, trionum are in common cultivation in California.

Armeria species sold in California are alliacea, alpina, maritima, pseudarmeria.

Agree number 4 is likely Nerium oleander.

#2 might be virginia creeper - as virginia creeper does have this asymmetrical leaf structure and has distinct pigmentation in the new growth - Parthenocissus quinquefolia.

    Agree #8 is Ipomea lobata.

Wow! Thank you so much for the quick responses. I am amazed at your brains, I've been trawling the forum a little, and have to say it's a very refreshing and lovely place. Did feel a bit cheeky as a n00b to ask for so much help, but I'm very glad I did.

I love flowers and plants, I take loads of photos everywhere I go. If anyone is curious & if it helps with id:

    Thanks again
