This plant was my grandmother's, and has been around for a very long time. Please help me identify it so that I can be sure I take care of it properly. Thank you!
Looks like Agalaeonema - Cast Iron Plant. It's a member of the Aroid family. Soil with fast drainage is the key to these plants.
Aglaonema is generally called "Chinese evergreen". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aglaonema Aspidistra elatior is referred to as "Cast-iron plant" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspidistra
Thanks for the clarification Saltcedar, I was diving for the "books" again because cast-iron plant, to me at least, is aspidistra. ;))) barb
