I have been unable to tag down the names of these 4 plants. Someone who's familiar with Western fauna, please help out! These plants were all found on the banks of the Provo River where it enters Utah Lake. I have four problem species: the first is the most abundant - it has long flat leaves which are rounded at the ends. It seems to stay close to the ground. The closest thing I could find after going through the whole Weeds of the West guide was field pennycress, which I'm pretty sure is wrong. (This is Pennycress.jpg). The second is grass (Grass.jpg); it can be a thin blade or many thin blades in a clump: I want to call it Bermuda grass - am I right? Third is the flat, fern-like plant. It varies from green with red tinges to completely red leaves. I'm not positive, but I think that the plant I want to identify (photo Red Fern Closeup.jpg) may be the same species as the "ferns" in the photo Big Ferns.jpg (you see some in Pennycress.jpg too). None of my field guides had anything about this plant or the next. Fourth (Purple.jpg) is tricky because it was so small, but maybe you can help me. This plant has so much red on the green leaves that it's almost purple (If your browser won't let you zoom in, let me know.) In the photo, the plant has a pencil and #6 next to it: there's some smaller specimens above the plant indicated by the pencil. Thank you!
Second photo tells me the ferny bits aren't likely ferns... No idea what they may be, other than that.
