Please help identify wild fruit tree

    I have looked everywhere on the net and can't seem to find this...maybe I am looking too hard. The fruit I found similar has a pit and this has up to four (pumpkin sized) seeds in them. Fruit starts out apricot colored but ripens much deeper red color. Fruit smells sweet

    Looks like Diospyros sp.

    I think that is it! Thank you so much. Walnut tree on one side of the drive and now persimmon on the other side. Wow!
