I recently purchased a home way down here in Missouri City Texas and have two mystery trees in the backyard. No one in my family or friends have any ideal what they are so hoping someone could please help me. I have scoured the Internet and no luck so far.

Tree one has long narrow dark green leaves that come to a point and have small spines at the end of each vein. It also has little pods that have appeared on the branches that look strange. Has not produced any flowers yet.

Tree two I'm guessing is a dwarf fruit tree of some variety. Its not very tall maybe 15 feet max. It has what appears to be a sucker trunk growing out below the graft. The flowers are medium size and white with yellow interiors. The flowers are not very fragrant but bees and hummingbirds love them. Not to mention the tree is covered in flowers and has bloomed for at least two months straight now. The leave are short, oval, dark green and fuzzy. The underside of the leaves are lighter in color and almost silver and extra fuzzy. About three weeks ago we noticed fruit like objects starting to appear that are fuzzy as well but we can't tell what they are yet.

I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you for your time.

Tree 1 is Quercus acutissima (Sawtooth Oak); that 'pod' is either a gall or an immature acorn

Tree #2 looks like Cordia boissieri.
