    Hi,

I recently bought a house in upstate New York and the garden was completely overgrown. I am working my way through it gradually tidying it up. I have attached two photos of a plant I cannot identify after search through books in the library and the internet.

    Can anyone help identify this?

    Many Thanks,
    John.

it also could be hollyhock, the leaves don't really look like a variation of a "rose of sharon" or hibiscus
