I received this plant from a friend who told me it was a palm. As you can see, it is dying. I would really like to save it, but have no idea where to begin as I'm not even sure what it is. Any help would be appreciated!
Looks to me like a Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae), related to the bananas (which is evident from the leaves). Can't help you on growing though.... Simon
Glossy leaf with prominent veins may perhaps not be right for that particular species, could be same genus or related one. Certainly not a palm.
