Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me identify this cactus that I bought in November. Also, if anyone can provide any tips on propagating the "babies" that would be much appreciated (i.e. method, soil type, etc.) Thanks in advance! Carl
It looks like a Euphorbia but not certain of the species. You might be able to find information online about propagation from cuttings. Anne
The babies probably already have roots. If that is the case, just break them off the parent and plant in any good cactus soil. You can find lots of information about appropriate soil mixes on the Web.
Definitely a cactus - with tufts of slender spines - and not a euphorbia. Possibly an Echinopsis but there are many kinds of cacti.
Could be a Parodia magnifica (a.k.a. Eriocactus/Notocactus magnificus), judging by the glaucous skin and continuous areoles on the older parts of the main stem. It is badly etioliated, which makes it difficult to identify. Are the white spots mealy bugs?
