    Winged Spindle (Euonymus alatus). The 'winged' refers to the ridges of bark on the stems, these can become quite prominent with age.

    Note: don't eat the fruit, they're somewhat poisonous.

    Yes, that's what it is. Indeed beautiful. And anyone disturbed by a gardener's juxtaposition of orange flowers and magenta flowers need only look to this example from nature to see the gardener's validation...
